Letting the Genie Out of the Bottle

One imagines, when one writes a book, that one signs a contract, prints a book, sells some copies ... What happens, in actual fact, is more interesting and at times quite terrifying! Traffic on unrelated websites multiplies tenfold, your next book is instantly accepted, you are invited to speak in distant islands, a swarm of consultants descends on you, and so on ... and I shan't mention the "terrifying" part in this post. OBSERVATION: A multitude of things happen that seem to have little to do with signing a contract, printing a book, and selling copies ... It seems more like letting the genie out of the bottle.
