Copy Editing

My focus of the last two days was copy editing, which is a detailed check for accuracy in a text. I used artificial intelligence (AI) to copy edit my forthcoming book. I know what a good copy edit is, and AI was highly intelligent. However, my new book is just text with illustrations, which is a fairly straightforward manuscript. My last book had a complex structure (footnotes, references, indexes, epigraphs, and so on), and perhaps it needed a human. OBSERVATION: I rejected some of AI's recommendations. Above all, it wanted to make creative or emotive language too standard, too bland. It also had some philosophical tendencies. As an example, I wrote that there are things we cannot know. It insisted on "do not know". Another example, I described God with personal pronouns. It insisted that God is called "it".
