My mother passed away last year, in her late eighties. She held out well -- into her high old age -- then went into rapid decline. Looking back on that time, there is something I would want to advise people with parents who may be nearing the end. One may think of one's parents as super-heroes. To some extent, I thought of my mother that way. If I had not, I would have given more attention to uplifting her and encouraging her, as I have done so many times in ministry. I think she could have done with that. OBSERVATION: While I did encourage her, as many people did, I speak of something that goes deeper than that.
