Odd One Out

I was curiously always the outsider. It began when I, the English boy, was the outsider among my large European family. Then I grew up with Micronesian children, a complete outsider. From there I entered apartheid South Africa -- now surrounded only by White boys in school. Then I studied in Europe -- the English-speaking outsider among Continentals. Even in ministry I might be thought of as an outsider -- my multiracial ministry was rare. Then I married across the old apartheid tracks -- a rare phenomenon in South Africa.
