Yesterday, they forecast rain in Cape Town. The rain was three hours early, going by the forecast that I read. But in the old days, forecasts for Cape Town were often far worse. Today, one has satellite pictures to go by, among other things. In my youth, there was little to go by, with the weather tending to approach us from the vast blue ocean. There was a weather station on Marion Island, some 2,000 km distant.
