Commodore II

These are the remains of the Commodore II four-masted schooner of 1919. The ship was deliberately beached in Paarden Island in 1948, where this chunk broke free -- migrating up and down the coast, until it came to rest at the mouth of the Milnerton (Diep River) Lagoon.

It is said to be the replica of the Bounty, which was used in the movie Mutiny On The Bounty. After filming, the ship was put to commercial use until it was scuttled.
