Let Them Eat Cake

I too, too often come across the attitude, Let them eat cake. Here's a fresh example. If one wants to send a small parcel suburb to suburb in South Africa, through PostNet, the cost is R265. if one wants to send the same parcel township to township or suburb to township, the cost is R555. The massive surcharge, which often falls to the poor, is just where the surcharge is not needed. OBSERVATION: It would be a very different country if one generally asked the question, "How does this affect the poor?" One wonders, too, why there has to be a township-suburb distinction at all.
