Types Of Refugee

Through ministry, I have had to do with very many refugees -- who have attended Church, or have simply sought help or counsel. In my experience, they tend to fall into three main categories: 

• Those whose families back home have entered dire straits economically, and wish to make money to rescue them, to pay for food, medication, schooling, and so on.

• Those who flee as a result of intimidation, war, press-gangs, persecution, famine, or other dire circumstances, and 

• Those who come here to "make a stash", invest, and go back home to fulfill their ambitions (not refugees, many say).

OBSERVATION: I would put most in the first two categories, at least in my experience. But it may be hard to distinguish between categories. For instance, at what point does such a person correctly discern that their life or family or livelihood are endangered? Some, too, are in one category and shift to another.
