On the left, one sees what one typically calls a
raisin in this country. This particular one comes from Piketberg, about 130km/80mi north of Cape Town. On the right, one sees what they call a raisin in Vredendal, about 300km/190mi north of Cape Town. The Vredendal raisin is very sweet, with a hint of dust from the earth.
OBSERVATION: To their credit, neither the raisins from Piketberg nor the raisins from Vredendal have
sand in them, as many South African raisins do.
