I was talking to a Black pastor last week. He said that people were becoming very sensitive to “harsh” preaching. He found himself continually following up offended congregants. I asked him what he meant by harsh. He said no, not harsh, but frank. The gospel separated one's congregation – into those who delighted in it, and those who were offended by it.
OBSERVATION: “The gospel”, in the African context, may be more closely interwoven beliefs and practices than is the case in White congregations.
