I have been writing what I call test essays. The latest is about Ludwig Wittgenstein's philosophy (Wittgenstein's Fork), to be published early in the morning (Easter Sunday). I have been preparing a second edition of a metaphysic, of which most chapters have been published as test essays. The test essays afford me both editorial and public input, which in some cases has been crucial. OBSERVATION: In this essay, I consider whether Wittgenstein took a wrong turn at the most important point in his philosophical development. He did not fully escape the received view that words are like little pieces of glass in a mosaic.
