My ministr(ies) have had to do with melting-pots of ages and cultures and classes and traditions -- and with that, very diverse groups within the Church. It has been a "very happy trauma", if one may put it like that. Anyway, this post is about a wont of my late wife Mirjam, in the midst of this. She would wend her way through nearly all Church groups, and she would deliberately, in one group, say something good about the other -- and she would deliberately, in the other, say something good about the last -- and so on. She would deliberately, too, say something good about the minister. And so through her influence, she did much to bind the Church together. Churches may very easily drift in the opposite direction. While my own emphasis was on other things, wherever I could, I did much the same as she did, deliberately. OBSERVATION: Somebody said that Mirjam was the "bracket" which held things together in the Church. Knowing what I do, behind the scenes, I thought that that was quite insightful.
