A Fundamental Problem

I see in our nation a fundamental problem -- which it has in common with the Church. Thinking first on the Church: more than anything, one needs to be Christ-centred. This has a real influence on how one acts: One may be perplexed at the Youth stepping on garden plants, or one may rejoice that the Youth hear the gospel. One may be nettled by the poor standard of English in a prayer, or one may rejoice over the faith expressed in it. And so on. Now think on our nation. Labourers and farmers, manufacturers and retailers  -- and so on -- all are a great blessing, and should be appreciated one and all -- rather than the short-sighted negativity which is everywhere expressed. This by no means reduces the need for change in many areas, and major change in some. Yet one can address the shortcomings without losing one's sense of priority and perspective. OBSERVATION: In fact it is a higher focus which undergirds both a Church’s and a nation's capacity to be open to change.
