Visiting my country cottage this weekend, my access was surprisingly blocked by two fences, and this sign. Some enterprising local had closed the public road -- and put a chain and padlock across it, too. In so doing, he had barred entry to some ten other properties. There is another point of entry, however it represents about a kilometre's detour. "It's about race," said a local, puffing on his pipe. They were launching a class action, he said, to re-open the road. As for me, my property now has much more traffic past it, since the detour passes there.
OBSERVATION: This is quintessentially South African -- to do what you want.
