Security Saga

The woes of pastoral visitation. I went to see a woman who had just been bereaved. A security officer stopped me. "Who do you want to see?" he asked. I told him her name. He looked it up -- and he had it on a list. "No," he said, "what is the number on her door?" I said, "I don't have it, but it's that door, right over there." He said, "Call her. Get the number. Then we can talk." I tried, and tried, to get through. But she had just been bereaved. People are hard to get hold of then. I said, "Isn't her name good enough?" He said, "Rules is rules." A second security officer turned up, and let me through. OBSERVATION: There are many obstacles to visitation in the city.
