Something one seldom sees in the West is uniforms in Church, but it is common in Southern Africa. This couple are relatives on my wife's side. He wears the uniform of the Congregational Broederband, while she wears the uniform of the Congregational Vrouekomitee. They belong to the Kruisfontein Congregational Church, a very old Church in Humansdorp which has a sprawling parish over many outstations -- called wyke in Afrikaans. Humansdorp is 670km / 420mi east of Cape Town.
