In urban ministry, we had Youth
leaders and Youth
helpers. Our leaders shaped policy and made decisions. The helpers mostly helped to keep control -- but also took on some of the roles of leaders. All were impressively dedicated, and dealt ever so patiently with a rowdy Youth. Once a term, the leaders and helpers conferred with the ministry of the Church. These were mostly times of spiritual encouragement -- they were doing well, and didn't need much direction.
OBSERVATION: Through experience, we learnt that we needed about one leader or helper for every five children. Less than that, and things begin to unravel. The photo shows a Youth helper taking a photo of the Youth on his cell-phone.
