The Church Remnant

A major theme of the Old Testament is the Remnant. Where Israel were God's people in the national sense, the Remnant were God's people in the spiritual sense -- and they were mostly (if not always) in the minority. I have wondered whether it is a fundamental mistake of ministry to consider that the Church is about "Israel" (the visible Church), rather than the "Remnant" (the invisible Church). What we do is ultimately, eternally, for the sake of the Remnant, present and future. OBSERVATION: It seems to me to be a healthier attitude than imagining that Israel are the Remnant.
