When I was four years old, I visited Pompeii en route to the mission in the Pacific -- here pictured with my mother and little sister. Nearly twenty years later, I returned to Pompeii, and climbed Mt. Vesuvius, which one sees here in the background. At the top of Vesuvius, an official reprimanded me and my climbing companion, for reaching the summit free. Everybody else had paid for the cableway. OBSERVATION: It is a difficult climb, because it is all loose rubble.
