This is the principal of Paul Sauer High School in Kareedouw (with the microphone), addressing a funeral service last year. I felt that he and his wife set a great example when a student died. They went out of their way to be a comfort and a presence in this time, and showed that they had a heart. OBSERVATION: At the same time, I wondered where the solidarity is in our communities. “I’ll be there as a point of solidarity” ought to be the least one could say. Being used to mixed congregations, this stood out for me. But there were others who set an example, with him and his wife.
