This
is our little house in the country, before it got very far. The sound that accompanies it (click on Play) is rain on Friday last week: ten seconds’ recording under the roof, and ten seconds near the ground. Such rain seems unusual, since Cape Town – about 100km / 60mi west as the crow flies – is in the grip of a serious drought. The city has little time left before (we hope not) it runs dry.
OBSERVATION: I have heard a few people say, particularly of the working class: “What did Cape Town do?”
