In my counselling, people have sometimes wondered aloud whether they might have jeopardised their salvation -- even lost it. Yet in my experience, sin may go a lot deeper in people's lives than the sin that has them worried. Where they see certain isolated incidents, there may be a groundswell of sin they are completely oblivious to. I think of many examples at the moment, and don't know where to begin. It seems that, while they are praying for forgiveness for something relatively small -- but large in their minds, and genuinely needing attention -- in fact they (and we) need a grace far bigger.
