It is a national day of protest today. I passed by our parliament at noon, when a great crowd appeared at the end of Roeland Street, chanting. Booms went down, security personnel put two-way radios to their ears, and police took up positions. The crowd hoisted big red balloons and sang "Sing for joy O Africa! The Lord your God is risen among you!" As they approached parliament's gates, they chanted: "Open the gates, and the King of Glory shall come in!" Then they raised up a man with a large cross behind him (pictured) to bring a Christian message. A man beckoned to me in the street and said: "Pray for Zuma." OBSERVATION: I thought I had seen it all. You may click on the photo to enlarge.
