I took the photo this morning, in Cape Town's central gardens. It is a monument in memory of South Africans who fell during the two world wars. More recently, the history of these wars has been revisited. The history books largely overlooked the fact that more than one-third of the South Africans who fought in each war were not "colonials" but locals.
OBSERVATION: Notice the inner glow of this monument, and the heron perched on the horse's head. An identical monument stands in Delville Wood.
