It is easy for a Church to see itself in isolation -- in isolation from neighbouring Churches, or in isolation from the wider world. But sometimes things are happening inside the Church which have little to do with itself -- rather with far larger trends. We were having patchy attendances in Church once. I called up the nearby Pentecostal Chuirch. They said they were experiencing worse. Another time, things got tight with the finances. I called up the nearby Methodist Church. They said they were scrambling to stop the lights being turned off. There would be many examples. OBSERVATION: Many times, I came to understand that, actually, we were doing better than the rest.
