Best Month

I stumbled upon an interesting fact today. April 2013, in my 20th year of city ministry, saw the highest income of any April in the Church in decades -- perhaps for all time. In May, then, I was attacked in the Church vestibule, and in June I quit. In fact, the whole year prior to that April saw the highest income of any year in decades -- again, perhaps for all time. OBSERVATION: Often, when one looks at the records where a minister quit, one sees a decline in finances towards the end -- sometimes a precipitous decline. In my situation, it was the opposite. The decline happened after my departure. Six months after that successful April, the (informally) Church attorney wrote to me: "I understand the cash flow is a dribble." I thank God for that grace of leaving a Church financially strong (or should I say, much stronger than it was). It usually is a reflection of confidence in the minister, too.
