I attended a ministers' fraternal. As is the case with most such fraternals, ministers were experiencing the tension between finances and faith. In one case, after great frustration, a Four Square minister had asked for the accountant's resignation. The "finance people", he said, essentially have a job of control -- yet where there is control, there is the great danger that one will lose the faith perspective. On the other hand, a minister, or ministry team, essentially have a job of calling people to faith -- yet where there is faith, there is the risk that one may lose one's grip on reality. OBSERVATION: One thing seems sure: one should beware of both extremes. And they are not just extremes -- they are spiritual and material disasters.
