There was a tragedy in a Third World nation -- which, in a news report, a major broadcasting corporation described as "impoverished". That jarred with me. Last night, I sent the article to a bishop in that country. What did he think to the word "impoverished"? He was forthright. Impoverished? He saw what I saw. I wrote back, could we print what you said? In our philosophy weekly? "Would you want your name attached to such strong sentiments?" Yes, he said. Sometime I shall assume my editorial role, therefore, and prepare it for publication. OBSERVATION: Poverty is a broad word. In this case it was used seemingly to put people down who have great riches, but not in money.
