To what extent is one's ministerial call of God, and to what extent is it arranged by "man"? I had a mentor who, on principle, resigned from his Church when everything was going very well. On principle, too, he said that any call would now have to come from God, and not because he himself had had any hand in it at all. Therefore he was silent about his need for a call. He debated aloud with me many times whether this represented faith in God or foolishness. Most of a year went by as his savings plummeted, and the end was in sight. Then he received a call, out of the blue.
