I read on the BBC tonight that a Google-translated order went wrong -- although it may not be Google that was at fault. A Norwegian Olympic team ordered -- in Korean -- 15 000 eggs instead of 1 500. I witnessed the real thing at Bible college. The principal, who was English, in a moment of bravado ordered sugar in Afrikaans instead of English. Instead of asking for such-and-such a weight of sugar in "sakke" (sacks) he asked for "sakkies" (sachets). I don't remember how much sugar he actually ordered, but it was a lot. It was a joke that was with us for a long time -- all sugar now in sachets.
