Early on in ministry, I learned that Churches mostly discuss business in their diaconate meetings, leaving spiritual items till last, when time and patience have run out. Yet it is spiritual matters which are the most important to the life of the Church. In all of my ministries, therefore, we have had “Spiritual Matters” at the top of the agenda, not only on the diaconate, but in other meetings. too OBSERVATION: It is a pattern we see in the Bible, one example being Acts 15. These priorities have worked very well. Today I wouldn’t want it any other way.
