The BBC, this week, tells the story of a Kenyan woman who was Shunned Because Of Cancer. Her husband, her community, and her Church rejected her. The woman herself puts it down to culture, or "traditional misconceptions". This may be so. In my own experience, however, this is not culture-bound. When someone falls seriously ill, family and friends may flee away -- and this includes the Church. OBSERVATION: This happens in some cases. I put it down to people's inability to cope with traumatic events. In fact the first time I myself visited a cancer patient, I would not go back. Today, it is not a problem for me. I welcome such opportunities.
