All ministers recognise the need for delegation, and many think of it as a practical measure. In the Bible, however, it has an important spiritual aspect. Exodus 18 is the famous Bible passage on delegation. In a sermon once, I focused on the words of Jethro to Moses. He said to Moses that, when he would take his hands off the wheel, "God will be with you." I consider that this is the spiritual aspect of avoiding inordinate stress and over-exertion. One needs to have faith that "God will be with you". OBSERVATION: This cannot be manufactured. It is "deep theology". Frequently, only the common-sense aspects of Exodus 18 are noted, which incidentally is quite typical of Western exegesis.
