Help From On High

There is a verse which is often quoted in Church services, as a call to worship: "Where does our help come from?" (Psalm 121:1). It is not from the hills, says the Bible -- which suggests a pointless, helpless, hopeless scanning of the horizon. There are many situations in which we look to "the hills" for our help. But then we do not reckon with God, who intervenes. Our help comes from Him. OBSERVATION: The prompt for this post was that I happened upon figures for a financial year in the Church which wasn't going well, and the whole Church was asking: "Where does our help come from?" In fact that turned out in the end to be the best financial year in a generation. Our help came from the Lord. It is a cheerless attitude, not to reckon with Him.
