Many people do not realise that I am still formally attached to my old urban Church, as minister. I received a letter once which proposed to sever my attachment with the Church. I said to the senders no, you can't do that. Only the Church Meeting has such power -- and then it provides good reason. A Congregational Church is governed by the members. Thus my attachment with the Church was retained, and I keep the paper today with my "important documents". OBSERVATION: With recent revelations, I sought advice from a colleague. He said, get out of there. Sever all remaining ties, immediately. You dare not be connected now. Yet I have always kept good records, so my part is clear -- and I am happy to have the ties. I have prayed for the Church rather than involve myself directly.
