I was surprised to discover, this morning, that a Black doctor of theology made copious use of my Master's thesis in his doctoral dissertation. Southern Africa, he said, was being flooded with US leadership material, and people were adopting it unthinkingly -- but it badly needed contextualisation. OBSERVATION: In fact the US "transformational" leadership paradigm is ruinous, even in the USA. The method of its theorists, too, is ruinous. Here are the characteristics of successful leaders, they say. Spot the methodological mistake in that. It is big. I think we shall be hearing a lot from the doctor of theology in the future.
