De-Formalised Team

In city ministry, we started a "worship team", which led pre-service singing. This was an organised team -- one belonged to it, one's name appeared on a roster, one arrived on time, and so on. In 2008, we “de-formalised” the team, and opened it up to all-comers. Only one name was on the roster each week. Now the team spontaneously began to lead during the service as well. A major reason for this change was the difficulty of managing a team in a chaotic city environment. OBSERVATION: This became  a large team -- approaching 20 members sometimes, and very diverse. Other Churches adopted our idea, when they saw that it could work.
