Non-Serious Discussions

Not all deacons' meetings are too serious. I took notes of one meeting as follows. Another Church had asked us for a donation. We debated whether they were thinking of money. Of course, said some, it’s money or nothing. When we couldn’t agree whether to give it, some deacons threw money on the table. Proposal passed. I hadn't been able to find some books we were searching for in the Church. A deaconess said: "You will." We debated then whether this was an expression of hope, or intimidation. Our Youth leaders proposed that we should hand out chocolates to all the Youth in Church. We discussed whether deacons qualified as "Youth". We didn’t reach a decision on that, but we wisely didn't deny the possibility they were youth. Then someone proposed that we should all stand at Church tea instead of sit. This taxed our decision-making powers exceedingly, and we referred it to a higher body.

Who decided tea should be served rather than coffee?

We called it Church Tea, but somehow coffee sneaked in! :-)
