Irrelevant God

It seems to me that, in some theologies, there is little to distinguish God from the man in the Bible who has faith but not works (James 2:15). In some theologies, God Himself says to people: “Go. I wish you well. Keep warm and well fed,” yet He does nothing about their physical needs. God has compassion for them in His heart. He assures them of His cosmic intentions. He provides them with an example to follow. He relies on His co-workers in various places. But that is all. I could not minister with such a God. OBSERVATION: People's reality is often more desperate than could be addressed by a God who merely has compassion at a distance, or offers hope for a remote future, and so on. There are those who do not seem to understand such a reality.
