At the start of my (present) country ministry, a consulent ministry, I accepted a call to a "United Church". Often this means "United Protestant Church" -- however, this one was more united than I had ever anticipated. It included what one normally considers cults: Christian Science, and the Unitarian Church. Even among the traditional Churches involved, which were in the majority, there were major differences: Anglican and Congregational, for example. But this was my task. I was not at liberty to change it. And mostly it went smoothly. OBSERVATION: I had experience with diversity in city ministry -- though not to this extent -- and the Church Board was helpful in managing it.
