Attractional Church Paradox

There seems to me to be a strange paradox in ministry. People seek to engineer a Church in such a way as to make it more attractive to the world -- in the positive sense of attracting outsiders. Yet while this might seem outward-looking, it is in fact inward-looking and self-defeating. It invests too much energy in forming "us", perhaps a lot of money too, sometimes exhausting or depleting a Church in the process. OBSERVATION: Apart from this, while it has its merits, it is just not the way to go. The way to go is ministry by members, based on spiritual insight into what this is. This becomes the attraction to outsiders.
