In ministry, it is hard to know people's motives when they drop off from Church, or when they leave altogether. This may potentially leave a minister very insecure. Was it something I did? Was it some gossip that is circulating? Was it a decline in their spiritual life? Was it something else? This is far more acutely felt in the Church, I think, than it is in the business world. OBSERVATION: It is important to bear in mind, then, that God builds His Church. One need not worry. And without making too much of it, one may simply ask after people's motives: "Would you like to tell me a reason for this?" Maybe one will learn something, maybe not.
