South Africa's public broadcaster has been in huge difficulty. The government has been bailing them out with billions. This week, a senior executive appeared on TV, to appeal for loyalty to the broadcaster. I doubt that many people will watch TV in response to a senior executive's appeals. OBSERVATION: This is what many Churches do when they are in trouble: appeal for greater loyalty, commitment, and effort. While one should not discount the usefulness of such appeals, these work best in the context of a (spiritually) fully functioning Church, or where such function is clearly being restored.
