Evolving Design

I follow with interest the adaptation of my designs. This week I found a "disco light" in the Cape Union Mart which appears to be a (further) development of one of my designs. I originally designed a flashing disco necklace (top), published by Wimborne in the UK. A company took it and simplified it (bottom), using just a fifth of the light guides, and moving abrasion from the outside to the inside of the guides. Another company took it and simplified it further -- so that there was just one light guide, which flashed in different colours. Now the Cape Union Mart (rather, their supplier) have taken that one light and increased the brightness and angle of view (it now looks like a bulb). OBSERVATION: It is interesting to see the evolution. Clever people have done clever things with the original design. One more thing they could do: make it pulsate with the music.
