One of my childhood playmates is on the front page of the BBC this morning, for his participation as President in the Pacific Islands Forum -- which "turned into a row" as its largest member Australia apparently took advantage of its weight when emissions were discussed. OBSERVATION: I still have daily contact with a great many Pacific islanders. It is not certain what climate change will do to the islands, yet there is enormous concern. They are already swamped by the ocean on occasion, wading in deep water through their villages. A friend put up a terrifying video of ocean breakers assaulting his home. I never saw that in my youth. Various villages have become uninhabitable, or have even disappeared.
