Moral Failure

Why do ministers suffer moral failure? My postgraduate research, which sought to find clues in leaders’ published works, suggested that it is linked to the feeling of being overwhelmed. But that feeling of being overwhelmed doesn’t come from nowhere. It is rooted in one's model of leadership. My research suggested that it comes from the sense of a loss of influence. OBSERVATION: This in fact reverses what is usually assumed. Rather than influence failing because character crumbles, character crumbles because influence fails. A Biblical example: the story of David and Bathsheba. This is not good news for popular models of leadership (most of them) which have “influence” at their core.
