Popularity

I stumbled upon a post today that I didn't post, dated 19 February 2010. Here it is, nearly 10 years later, word for word -- on popularity.

"I met an old woman from another Church. She said: “You’re very popular, you know.” I said: “Oh. Really?” She said: “Oh yes! You didn’t know? Don’t think I don’t have my ear to the ground!” OBSERVATION: You know you’re in trouble when you’re popular -- even more when you aspire to that. Popularity and notoriety would seem to me to be on about the same level. I think there might be an idiom to that effect."
