Is the Christian leader a superior being? Christian leadership
theorists might say no, yet the literature suggests
otherwise. The famous Oswald Sanders considered that Christian leaders have “superior
spiritual power”, and “the Spirit works in and through [them] to a
greater degree”. Henry and Richard Blackaby
consider that leaders have “greater characters” than their followers. Andy Stanley considers
that Christian leaders wear an “invisible badge” of moral authority -- and so on.
OBSERVATION: In Congregationalism, though, there are many humble Christians who are crucial to
one's so-called leadership. All of them are spiritual treasures. How then could one claim superiority? A leader may have the gifting, but not superiority. (The preferred Congregational term "minister" comes from the Latin "minus").
