Plagiarism and Collaboration

My sister drew some cartoons which were plagiarised today in a major newspaper -- her autograph replaced with another. I have experienced this several times with electronic design. Some people are rapacious for talent and ideas. In electronics, it can be disguised a little, since different countries use different conventions -- something like painting a blue car red and re-selling it. Or one can use equivalent components, or shift the application (say, turn a car alarm into a bicycle alarm). OBSERVATION: My own wont has been to acknowledge others generously, even to include them as co-authors, if their ideas significantly influenced my own. In fact I feel good about collaboration. Once, an editor wrote to me, asking me to cut the acknowledgements -- they were too many.
