I was reading this week that the source of most violence in marriage is ethnic. It is its 'most volatile source' -- where ethnicity refers to lingual, ancestral, regional, religious (and so on) characteristics. This may well be so, although I would qualify it. The conflict exists where a married couple fails to recognise that their problem is ethnic. OBSERVATION: We are ethnically mixed today, though often we do not realise it. This is the result of vast ethnic (as opposed to racial) mixing through urbanisation, and so on. In counselling, it helps to make couples aware of this wider context.
